Black Cats

Black cats are revered in other cultures, why are they so underappreciated in the United States? Many cultures believe them to be honored members of the family whom bring good fortune to them.

A life Lost

Dogs are treated for heartworms by using a drug called Immiticide. It is an injectable arsenic-based product. The injections kill off the heartworms. As the worms begin to die they will break up into pieces, which can cause a blockage of the pulmonary vessels and cause the death of the dog so the dog must be kept very still and very quiet during this time period.  Treatment usually lasts between 4-8 weeks.

Shelters need Help

As a result of the oil spill disaster, many residents of the affected Parishes have turned to their local Shelter for help.

Many people have turned in their pets, feeling they couldn't afford to care for them while others have asked for assistance from the Shelter for food and supplies.

Preparing your dog for the new baby

You’ve treated your dog like he’s your baby for as long as he’s been with you, but now you are expecting a baby for real and are unsure how this will affect your canine friend. Here’s how you can prepare him for the new arrival, and help ensure that baby and dog grow into lifelong friends.

To give your dog (and cats too) as much time as possible to adapt, begin preparing them for the new arrival as soon as you start trying to conceive or adopt.
